Zakaat Support for boarders at Kalsekar Students Hostel

A substantial number of students staying at the Kalsekar Students Hostel come from economically weaker sections of society, and need support to get school or college education. Funds are raised from community members, other public welfare organisations and philanthropists to ensure that such students get support through Zakaat collected every year.

Students are categorized in various beneficiary categories based on their annual family income, and accordingly, students get boarding fees support as follows:

• 100% food & mess charges support from ESK
• 75% food & mess charges support from ESK (Students get a 25% discount in the food & mess charges payable)
• 50% food & mess charges support from ESK (Students get a 50% discount in the food & mess charges payable)
• 25% food & mess charges support (Students need to pay 75% of the food & mess charges)

PLEASE NOTE: The discounts/ zakaat support is only for food & mess charges. The one-time refundable deposit and Hygiene Fees are mandatory for all students.

The classification of the students for the discount structure is made through the following process:

1. Faculty members receiving a letter of recommendation from the respective Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen of the area where the student and parents reside, along with preceding two year’s bank statement or passbook copy, duly stamped and verified by the bank branch.
2. Faculty members assess the household of the students to make a fact-check/evaluation.

This evaluation is done on annual basis by the faculty team and the discount categories are also reworked accordingly every year based on the economic situation of the students’ family members/ guardians.
